I forgot to add this lovely picture of my most favourite necklace ever! Handmade by a Shaman in Bracebridge. It's a long story how I received this specific necklace, some might call it fate. Perhaps I'll tell the entire story on here one day.
From our trip to Toronto to visit my older sister.

Pictures pictures pictures!
I have to share a couple of recent photos. The first I was fiddling around with the remote for my camera. Usually when Crooks sees that my camera has the speedlight on it he does his best to avoid the BIG BRIGHT LIGHT by looking away or closing his eyes even to the point of avoiding me (my sister does this too). However he thought it was safe the crawl all over me when my camera was on the other side of the room. Much to his surprise as captured in this photo the camera started to move by itself as it focused. The flash blinked as it responded to a signal and BLAM we were both immediately blinded and this priceless expression of Crooks immortalized. I can honestly overlook the horror that is my unbrushed hair and post this picture because of his expression.
Next we're moving on to an updated picture of CHUCK the wonder Dutch.
Well I just started a new full time job and yet I somehow still have more than enough time for my 30 rabbits, dog and a social life. I can actually afford those 30 rabbits, a dog, and a social life now. A new job or baby I find is one of the worst reason to give up an animal. If you don't have a job you can't afford owning an animal and just image every farmer that gave up working their farm when they have a new baby?
In other words I think I've spent too much time browsing classified ads again.
I have 3 dogs between the ages of 8 and 16. Two we've had since they were puppies one was born here. I had someone asked how I could own a pet that long and not get bored of it. I told them they should never own an animal.
Oh in other news the other night I heard the yips and whines of coyotes right being my house. We don't normally have coyotes in town but since the bay has frozen over they walk across looking for food in the form of geese who are the bad end of natural selection and open rubish bins. I've been taking a good look at my rabbitry door. It doesn't seem to be so strong.

Everyone makes mistakes right? One of the major problems I have been fighting with the Argente Bruns is the shoulders. Long low shoulders. And squared hindquarters. I have been going at it by culling hard which means I'm processing them and not selling any and breeding good rabbits to good rabbits and it's getting frustrating because of the lack of available genetics has put up a major road block. I have introduced Champagnes into my Brun line as a way to open up those genetics for good shoulders and hindquarters not everyone agrees with this, but since Bruns came directly from Champagne's I'm not hurting the breed any.
Now a made a rather big mistake. Poor Maple Bacon has terrible shoulders and not only that he's on the small side but my sister adores him so he stayed. Now I bred Maple Bacon to Cinderellie (a beautifully typed Brun Champagne cross) and was majorly disappointed they have her butt but they have his shoulders and slow growth rates. So the chances of keeping one of them is slim. However I bred Maple Bacon to a doe and this doe I had completely forgotten was his mother. I normally have no problem linebreeding like this but this case is different. He was fostered with his brother as a newborn to another litter and for some reason I had completely forgotten about it. Now I've taken a giant leap backwards because his mother was bred to Baron to improve on her shoulders and I got Maple Bacon who produces throw backs to his mother's type and now I've just did one heck of a bad line breeding.
Ohh well at least Brandy is due with a litter by Baron and she's one heck of a sturdy doe.

Oh Joy. I have what has to be the world's fattest little Dutch baby living in my room. He only moves when he wants to nurse otherwise he just lays there on his back with his chubby little munchkin legs straight up in the air. This also makes him a nice subject to take photos of because he simply is too fat too move. I think I shall fear the day he decides he's going to start eating solid food.
So he is Chuck's latest portrait:
